Implementation of the COMESA Competition and Consumer Obligation at EAC and COMESA

Uganda will achieve implementation of her regional commitment on the competition policy regime through the development and enactment of an overall national Policy and Law on the matter. During the quarter, a Cabinet Memorandum was developed and submitted to Cabinet Secretariat for comments. The RIIP supported a meeting of the Task force which incorporated the comments of Secretariat on the Cabinet Memorandum on the Competition and Consumer Protection Policy. During the next quarter, it is anticipated that the Policy will be passed and the Ministry will embark on updating the draft bill 2012 and resubmitting it to Cabinet and subsequently to Parliament for adoption.
