Development of Border Markets

The Project has supported the border market program that the Government of Uganda adopted in 2010. The program aims at positioning Uganda to increase her exports into the EAC and COMESA region. Master plans for Katuna and Busia sites have been developed in addition to that of Elegu which was development with Government funds. The development of the border market project was launched at Katuna in 2015.Construction for Katuna is expected to be launched in the last quarter of 2016. Value chains for the two borders have also been clustered and training of the players on enterprise development undertaken.
