Harmonized Road Transport Charges Implemented

The project supported an awareness workshop in Tororo on existing COMESA transport facilitation tools. Participants were mainly from the eastern region and included mainly the clearing agents, transporters, traders and customs officials. Implementation on this result however, is generally hampered by the lack of Statutory Instruments to give legal effect to their implementation in the country. Based on the advice by the COMESA Secretariat, the Steering Committee meeting held in April 2014 resolved that development of the Statutory Instruments be targeted in second quarter of the RIIP Project. This will give room for effective capacity building and awareness activities in the subsequent implementation period of the Project.
