Operationalizing the National Inter Ministerial Committee (NIMC)

Establishing a National Inter-Ministerial Committee (NIMC) to monitor implementation of the regional programs. With support of the RIIP, the Inter Institutional Trade Committee (IITC) was reconstituted in line with the National Inter Ministerial Committee NIMC guidelines of COMESA. In addition the IITC discussed domestication and implementation of regional policies and Programmes. The Project also supported Members of the IITC and the National Trade Negotiation Team (NTNT) to participate in the on-going trade negotiations. Negotiators participated in the Tripartite negotiations in Burundi 30th July -8th Aug 2014, Africa-US Trade and Investment summit meeting in Washington from 1st to 7th August 2014, and Implementation of the COMESA Customs Union meeting of the four EAC-COMESA Member States in Nairobi, among others.
